Summary
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and executing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role focuses on inspections, training, documentation, contractor safety management, and continuous improvement of safety processes across multiple departments. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a safe and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities
Health & Safety Programs
  • Support occupational health programs such as PPE compliance, hearing conservation, and bloodborne pathogen requirements.
  • Maintain emergency action plan documents and ensure training is conducted according to established procedures.
  • Assist supervisors and managers with incident investigations using established tools and processes.
Compliance & Program Execution
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections related to environmental, health, and safety compliance.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to company policies and regulations.
  • Execute the Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) program in coordination with operations, maintenance, and contractors.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation, logs, permits, and records as required through ISNet and Avetta platforms.
  • Track corrective actions and follow up to ensure completion.
  • Create and perform audits as needed.
Training & Development
  • Assist in delivering required EHS training using established materials and programs.
  • Provide safety training for new hires and contractor safety briefings.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly safety training to multiple departments.
  • Provide in-house training for powered industrial vehicles (fork truck, scissor lift, boom lift), LOTO, Confined space, etc. 
  • Establish company-specific training programs including PowerPoint and video documentation aligned with company standards.
  • Develop and assist with implementation of work instructions and SOPs for employee use.
  • Coordinate external vendor training as needed.
Collaboration & Administration
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Manage contractor safety and health performance with facility management to ensure safe work practices and proper equipment use.
  • Complete administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and reporting related to EHS programs.
  • Prioritize workload based on operational needs and regulatory deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties consistent with daily program execution needs including scheduling contractors to job sites and ensuring proper training ahead of time in compliance with site needs. 
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations.
  • OSHA 300 certification required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED/BBP certification required within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to travel 50-60%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to proofread documents and maintain high-quality records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and ensure consistent execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Education & Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related discipline preferred; will consider industry experience in place of formal degree 
  • 5+ years of related EHS experience preferred in the construction field.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to complete various activities in the shop that may require hours of walking, sitting, standing, bending/stooping, crawling, balancing, crouching, lifting and carrying.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75lbs occasionally.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.

Pay & Benefits
The expected pay rate for this role is $30.00-$45.00 per hour. Please note, range is based upon factors including candidate skills, experience and qualifications, education, certifications, as well as market and business considerations. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
